Students from the group present their research work at the KITP Physics Symposium

Myles O'Leary, Sergio Sokolovskiy and Henry Yuan present their research work at the 2023 Undergraduate Physics Research Symposium held at KITP. Well done, all!

September 29, 2023

The undergraduate students in the group presented their work as part of the 2023 Undergraduate Physics Research Symposium held at KITP.

Myles O'Leary presented his work on "Active Nematics on an Elastic Medium" inspired by role of the actin in the morphogenesis in Hydra. Henry Yuan talked about "Phase Separation in Active Systems" and discussed how the frictional drag within the system can change the role of activity in phase separation. Sergio Sokolovskiy presented his work titled "Interplay between elasticity and order in curved biological membranes" discussing how the nematic texture in two dimensional elastomers can control their curvature!

The talks will be available on the KITP website shortly.
